Cassava bacterial blight
A disease that makes wet-looking spots on leaves, then wilting and dieback of shoots.

When it comes
| Crop | Stage | Check |
|---|---|---|
| Cassava | Establishment | Scout weekly for first month |
What to look for
Once a week for the first month, look at the young cassava leaves. If they show yellow patches in odd patterns (mosaic), that's a virus called CMD — there's no cure, so remove and burn those plants right away. Always plant clean stem cuttings from healthy fields. Watch for termites near the cutting too.
What to do
Use certified resistant planting material and clean farm hygiene.
